Avian Flu – Update for our upcoming event

Following the recent confirmation avian flu outbreaks in Québec, we would like to express our solidarity with all the affected producers.

As the next Rendez-vous avicole AQINAC is coming soon (November 15), we would like to inform you that we still plan to hold the event in person. Despite the current situation, we believe that it is essential to allow all partners in the poultry industry to come together, to gather information and to get ready in view of the many challenges of the sector.

Several measures will be deployed to ensure that the event is safe for you and your flocks.

  • Inside the Centre des congrès, measures will be deployed to minimize the risk of cross-contamination (e.g. disinfection of boots at the entrance).
  • A reminder of biosecurity measures will be made at the end of the day to ensure a safe return to the farm.
  • Producers whose buildings are currently located inside an active primary control zone are invited not to attend the event in person (we will communicate with those who are already registered).

Note that the AQINAC team ensures constant monitoring of the spread of the virus and also that we are in close contact with the Équipe québécoise de contrôle des maladies avicoles (ÉQCMA) to ensure everyone’s safety.

Thank you for your collaboration,

Sebastien Charest, DTA
and Alexandre Lebel, agr., M.Sc.
